Bunge Flour Mixes Obtain Top Certification For Taste and Quality in Mexico

March 7, 2016 - Mexico City, Mexico - A variety of flour mixes made at our Espiga mill in Mexico City recently obtained Taste of the Year certification, one of the most important and trusted certifications in the food service industry in Mexico.

To achieve certification, each flour mix was evaluated by a jury of 20 chefs, chaired by two renowned Master Chefs, Eduardo Palazuelos and Yerika Muñoz. Chefs tested the mixes in professional and independent kitchens to reproduce the actual conditions of use following standard cooking practices but also following their own inspirations and methods.

RichCreme Vainilla is one of the six Bunge flour mixes which obtained Taste of the Year (El Sabor del Año) certification.

Chefs evaluated the products using a rating from 0 to 10 based on taste, interest, ease of use and general satisfaction. Certification was granted to products that obtained the highest rating in its class (which must always be greater than 6).

The following prepared flour mixes made at Bunge’s Espiga mill received the Taste of the Year (El Sabor del Año) certification:

  • RichCreme Chocolate
  • RichCreme Vainilla
  • Pan de Muerto Mix
  • Rosca de Reyes Mix
  • Superblend Mix
  • Pastel Esponja Mix

“This certification supports our differentiation strategy in the market for prepared flours,” said Olga García, marketing manager, Mexico. “It also will reinforce our marketing campaign and support our sales by allowing us to use the logo of “Sabor del Año” in all of our communication materials.”

Further, the achievement allows Bunge to strengthen its presence in the expos and events we plan to attend in 2016 such as Mexipan, Mexico’s largest bakery tradeshow.
